post GFI backup

I’ve recently combined to backup application on my main machine.

I was previously using Acronis Echo, a great app. However, the backups would complete, but with errors. A handful of files wouldn’t be backed up and also the server side application would crash. What i also didn’t like was the fact that the backup that acronis took was in a format that would only be readably by Acronis.

Don’t get me wrong, this is an awesome app and has saved me a few times, especially the disc imaging. However, i wanted something simpler that would be easy to configure and just run.

In comes GFI Backup. It needs to be installed on the machine you want backed up. Once installed, you configure scheduled backups to a desired location and you are done.

As to what makes this application stand out from every other backup software out there, that i cannot say. You will just have to try it for yourself.

I have been using it for the past two weeks now, and i am definitely going to continue using it. It runs nightly to a file server and has a log that appears once th job hs completed. I’ll be holding on to this one and the best part, its FREE.
